- the new Iggy Pop album "Avenue B" just appeared on september 21 1999, it's quite an unusual album for Iggy, very quiet music, some tracks just spoken word. Nevertheless it is a great and very interesting work of music...
- Just six months after prodigal drummer Jimmy Chamberlin returned to the group, the Smashing Pumpkins announced Thursday (Sept. 9) that bassist D'Arcy has quit. The 31-year-old bassist D'Arcy Wretzky was one of the founding members of the Pumpkins. Nevertheless the band has recorded a new album which will be released early next year. The band itself said, "D'Arcy has left the Smashing Pumpkins. The band's new album is finished, and will be released on February 15, 2000, by Virgin Records. The Smashing Pumpkins will continue as a band and will tour in support of the new record."
- a new Patti Smith album is anounced for september 1999, title still unknown
- The Toy Dolls are working on a new album, one of the songs will be called "My Baby Is A Battleaxe". Date of release is still unknown.
- Die Toten Hosen will release a new studio album in December. The album will be called "Unsterblich" and the first single "Schön Sein" will be available at October 25 1999. For this album Die Toten Hosen needed a new drummer, because Wölli had to quit playing for health reasons. The new drummer is from England and his name is Vom Ritchie. Die Toten Hosen have also recorded the new song "You're Dead" as title track for the movie "You Are Dead", which will be at cinemas in October 1999.
- David Bowie's phantastic music career started over 30 years ago; now he has recorded a new studio album, "Hours...", it is available for online download at www.davidbowie.com now, and will be released in the shops at october 4 1999
- "The Vault ... Old Friends 4 Sale" is the new album of Prince, it's out now
- the new Sting record "Brand New Day" should be available now
- records from Philadelphia (1978) and Dallas (1980) have been put together to the new Blondie record called "Live"
- there are several books about Patti Smith available at stores, but there's a new one out now, written by Patti herself. It contains the lyrics to all her songs, personal comments, background information to the albums and thoughts about other important persons in her life. The book's title is "Patti Smith Complete: Lyrics, Notes And Reflections"
- "Gewaltberechtigt?" is the title of a new Goethes Erben record that should be out now
- a new Björk record is announced for fall 1999, title unknown
- Nine Inch Nails are recording a new album that will be released on october 4 1999
- a new Primus album called "Antipop" is announced for november 1 1999
