The Web would make a dandy blackboard if only we could scribble an equation. — Brian Hayes: Writing Math on the Web |
Why yet another? |
| For online-tutoring we want a shared whiteboard that is free, fast, supports inking on a tablet-pc, and that works resonably well with other tools: to scan images directly into the whiteboard, or to insert vector graphics, animations and 3d models, for example. Since I have not found such a whiteboard on the internet (or already installed under Windows XP or Windows Vista), I decided to write my own. (No, the whiteboard of Windows Live Messenger does not satisfy these requirements nor does OneNote, or the various sometimes actually free whiteboards that are published as websites, like scribblar, DimDim or www.wiziq.com.) |

| Here is a short demo of NetDesk# (without sound, to keep the footprint of the video small): |

| You can get the latest version of NetDesk# from the download section of this homepage. There you find a manual as well that gives some more information about NetDesk#.

The latest version animates received handwriting (although, for reasons of efficiency, only entire ink strokes are transmitted). Here a short video that demonstrates the difference between receiving handwriting from a peer without vs. receiving it with animation:

| Looks almost as if you could direcly observe your peer writing... |
