Brian wrote: The actual aircraft is an A-0 model and was flown by Werner Streib when he was still evaluating the type. This particular aircraft was only flown on a few missions, the most important one being that on the night of June 11-12 1943 when he accounted for the destruction of no less than 5 RAF bombers. Unfortunately, the aircraft crashed on landing and broke up.

Brian wrote: The kit is a vacform from ID models. It is my first vacform and I'm pretty satisfied with the result considering the bad quality of the kit. The only accurate area was the fuselage. All the rest is heavily modified with a great deal of scratchbuilding. The only aftermarket product used during construction was a resin and whitemetal set by Marine Air Products which was also a mess and I only used parts of it and even these had to be modified. I also used a Verlinden DB601 engine as a basis for my detailed engine.  It took me three years to build.

The model was sprayed with Testors and Humbrol. The tail swastikas, G9 codes and wing topside crosses are decals from various sources. All other markings are sprayed on the aircraft.

Brian wrote: Detailed areas of the model are the following - The internal structure including the electrical equipment bay which was accessible from a hatch at the lower rear end of the aircraft; the dinghy compartment; the two rear fuel cells; the cannon and ammunition bays on one wing; the engine compartment; the cockpit; all wheel wells.

All details in these areas are scratchbuilt. The dinghy is made from milliput. The undercarriage legs are all made from brass rod and pipes, I and U section. This gives stability to a very heavy model.
