Jesmond wrote: The kit is in 1/48 from Hasegawa, with decals from Superscale. He also used the Eduard photo-etched set and the resin-set from Verlinden. Some details (wheel wells, avionics) are scratchbuild.

The mount of the VA-72 "Blue Hawks" CAG, Capt. White, has been specially painted for the return to the U.S.A. after operation Desert Storm. After their return from the Gulf, however, the VA-72 "Blue Hawks" and their mates from VA-46 "Clansmen" were ordered to stand-down and decommission.

(Sorry for the minor quality of this picture, I had to make it from 2 meters in a dark corner ...)

Jesmond had his kit in the contest for ScaleModelWorld 2000 at Telford/UK. He did not score - and I guess this is to blame the bad lighting and the unfortunate position on the table. His Corsair was located on the far end of the table, beyond any good light source and in front of a black courtain. The above picture has been made from the judges position ... and I had a 75mm Zoom, at least.
