416 Sqn "Lynx" - Canadian Armed Forces
based at CFB Chatham, New Brunswick / Canada
circa September 1984

The model is based on Monogram's first issue (kit no. 5811), molded in 1985. The kit came with decals for an US-ANG and a Canadian version. But Monogram latter also re-boxed the kit with decals for this 416 Sqn version.

I used SuperScale decals for this model (48-263).

CF-101_003.JPG (21 kB) The kit has raised panel lines and is fairly good detailed. But the fit is only average, so I had to use some filler. With extensive sanding, you will remove all the nice panel lines - so be careful.

With this project, I tried for the first time an alternative method for gap filling: I filled Tamiya putty in the seams, let it cure for a few minutes (2 - 5 min.) and then removed the excessive filler with a Q-Tip soaked with nail polish remover (normal strength!). After two, three whips I had an almost perfect filled seam.

Also for the first time, I tried for the metall finish the new ALCLAD II paints. They are great, but also tricky to use: they are very thin, so any imperfection will be highlighted, and they also have some "strange" reactions to other paints ... CF-101_004.JPG (22 kB)

I have more pictures of this kit. Please go to the second Page of the Voodoo.
Furthermore, there's a page with pictures of the "original" bird - proceed to my third Page of the Voodoo.
