Er deklassierte die ganze Flotte des New Yorkers Yachtclubs derart, das die Cluboberen für alle Zukunft die Teilnahme solcher Schiffe an Ihren Regatten verboten ;-((

Er gewann eine Regatta des Kaiserlichen Yachtclubs Kiew, weitere Starts wurden Ihm aber untersagt, denn :Was er da habe sei "kein Schiff".

Als die Yacht Racing Union (IYRU) 1959  Ihr "Multihull Committe " gründete gehörten die schnellen Doppelrumpfboote endlich zum Segler- Establishment. ;-))

1956, the "A-Division-Catamaran-Class" was founded as a free construction class by the former  "International Yacht Racing Union" in England and still belongs to one of the oldest and most active catamaran classes in the world. Due to a minimum of construction rules such as length, width and sail area it has been possible for the numerous designers to develop a boat outstanding performance.

At 8am on Tuesday, 28 October 1662 (possibly 22 December), Sir William Petty, a founder member of the Royal Dublin Society, launched into Dublin Bay the world's first double-bottomed (twin-hulled) boat, a primitive catamaran. It weighed 30 tons, carried five guns and was crewed by 30 men. The following day Petty wrote to the President of the Royal Society "When I left England, upon my kissing his Majesty's hand, I had the honor to be told by his Majesty that I should go into Ireland in my own ship, that is in a certain 'fantastical bottomless double-bottomed machine.'"
